The social interface lets you walk through a forest to arrive at a retreat cabin where the seminar is taking place, register for the seminar, meet Sam Keen and other seminar attendees, and proceed through various gates down paths into the past, present and future. Sam Keen appears throughout (in video and audio clips), leading you through interactive exercises that provide a deeper understanding of your life story, answering questions, and sharing his own stories.
When you have completed this seminar, you can go into a library and work on your own multimedia autobiography, enhancing your written story with personal photographs, illustrations, and voice or music clips .
Your Mythic Journey CD-ROM may be used by up to twelve persons, making it a valuable tool for families and other groups. It may be used by one person at a time, allowing users to work at their own pace. Or, up to four persons can use it in a concurrent session, providing a real-life seminar experience. Password protection is provided to allow for privacy.
A Word from Sam Keen
For 30 years I have watched people in my seminars on Personal Mythology discover a deep sense of meaning and purpose as they began to recover, sort and discard some of the family and cultural myths that informed their lives. I have seen the personal power and joy that resulted when they replaced inherited myths with a story of their own making -- an autobiography. But, I have often been frustrated because working with small groups in this process demands so much of my very limited time and energy.
When JourneyWare first proposed turning Your Mythic Journey into a Virtual Seminar I was hopeful but skeptical. If they could clone me electronically it would allow an unlimited number of people to participate in this intimate process with me. But, I am something of a technophobe with no on-ramp to the Information Superhighway, so I doubted they could do it.
Surprise! When I first saw the finished version of the Virtual Seminar my immediate reaction was: "This is better than an actual seminar because it allows every participant to eavesdrop and share the stories of all the other participants." It has a step by step method for recovering the past, finding the wisdom of dreams, previsioning the future, and a blank electronic diary in which you can begin the autobiography you will be writing so long as you remain lively. Beyond that, it provides a way for memb ers of the same family who are scattered over the world to share their memories and create family history, complete with a picture album.
I will never meet many of you in the flesh or, as they say, in "real" time.
